Productivity losses related to personal and family health problems cost U.S. employers $1,685 per employee per year, or $225.8 billion annually. The indirect costs (e.g., absenteeism, presenteeism) of poor health can be two to three times the direct medical costs. Investments in promoting health at the worksite have shown an average $3.50-to-$1 savings-to-cost ratio in reduced absenteeism and health care costs. The bottom line: Healthy employees translate to a more productive workforce, less absenteeism and a significant savings for employers.

Healthy Wichita is about leaders making a commitment to lead by example. You can be a leader for health by participating and demonstrating how an organization can support its employees and the community by increasing healthy behavior. Participation in Healthy Wichita simply means you recognize the importance of a healthy workforce and have made a public commitment to support healthy behaviors in your organization. Your leadership will encourage others to follow suit.

Healthy Wichita is about leadership in support of healthy behavior. We are not asking you for a financial commitment. Your participation means you agree to (1) sign a letter of commitment; (2) complete a simple company assessment; and (3) implement at least one recommended health initiative.
